Building Pitch

Summary

A nametag mic hears every live sales pitch. AI scores it and coaches the rep. I design it and build it.

Pitch is a three-person startup. I own design and engineering across the product: the app the nametag pairs with, the manager console, the internal admin console, the audio and AI pipeline behind them, and the public site.

The problem

Act 01: Why

  • Sales teams keep years of records and have never heard the conversation behind any of them
  • Reps will not log anything, so every number has to come from the mic
  • A product that listens all day gets sabotaged the moment it feels like surveillance

The work

Act 02: What we are building

The nametag

A copper nameplate on a titanium frame, with two beamforming mics and a 12-hour battery in the core. It clips to a shirt and looks like exactly what it is.

The rep app

Recording runs in the background, survives a locked phone, and splits a shift into doors by the street’s own noise level. Every door lands in the feed scored, with its recording and one line of coaching; Stats tracks pace against the rep’s goals, and Coach turns a lost objection into the rep’s own best answer and a two-minute roleplay.

The Feed: yesterday’s doors, each with its score, a play button ringed in the score’s colour, the outcome (Callback or Sold), and one line of coaching
Feed
Stats: sales this week against the goal with a pace line, today’s conversations, pitches and close attempts against targets, and a field-day streak
Stats
Coach: an objection the rep lost a door on, quoted from the transcript with what the rep said, a button to show a good response, and a two-minute roleplay
Coach

The AI behind it

Every recording is transcribed with the speakers labelled, then scored against what a good pitch does phase by phase: intro, discovery, objections, close. The rep sees one number, with the misses and the clip under it, and the coaching comes from the rep’s own doors.

The manager console

The team board, who needs coaching today, and every rep’s pitches with the transcript and score breakdown behind each number. Managers see their own team by default; the owner sets the company up once.

Pitch HQ

The internal console that provisions customers: company, offices and teams, recording consent by state, retention, and the roster import that invites managers. Demo requests from the site land here as deals. Founders only, behind MFA.

The site

usepitch.app, rebuilt for everyone who sells face to face: the nametag in three parts, how it works, the console, and a demo request that works the prospect’s own numbers and books a call.

usepitch.app: the nametag is the hero, and every button books a demo

My role

Design and engineering, end to end. I draw the screens, build them, wire the data and the pipeline behind them, and ship.

Today

Act 03: Where it stands

  • A pilot team records, uploads and sees coaching without touching anything but the record button
  • Managers see their own team by default, and the owner sets up the company once
  • App, consoles and site are live; scoring moves to a check-based judge with a quote for every check next
